Dr. Christina M. Giovas will be joining the Department of Anthropology in September as a Visiting Scholar in the Center for Comparative Archaeology
Dr. Giovas is an environmental archaeologist specializing in the zooarchaeology and human paleoecology of island and coastal settings, particularly the Caribbean, Oceania and Great Lakes. My research draws on human behavioral ecology and historical ecology to address prehistoric foraging, anthropogenic environmental impacts, and population movement. Currently, I am exploring the prehistoric introduction of South American animals in the Caribbean to investigate human colonization and island interaction.
